Missions

Peninsular Christian Church is a mission minded church.  Each member is a missionary and serves in the mission field on a daily basis, whether at work or school, in our community or across the world.  We serve!

The latest mission trip sent Dave and Debbie Hicks along with Brian and Sarah Whiteman to Guatemala.

Laura Johnson just returned from a trip to Reynosa Mexico where PCC supported her with Walmart gift cards for the orphanage where she served.

Dave Hicks left for Guatemala on September 30, 2016 and will return on October 14, 2016.

Military Bible Stick

INTRODUCING HOPE FOR OUR HEROES

Around the world the men and women of the U.S. military are defending our freedom and helping to fight the war on terror.

Many of these soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines live in cramped quarters with other personnel, in very uncomfortable and challenging circumstances, working hard and putting in long hours every day — too tired to read a Bible, even if they have one.

The Military BibleStick reaches these service men and women, deployed in some of the most dangerous areas of the world, with God’s Word in audio — It can go with them and sustain them in even the most difficult circumstances.

It contains the entire Audio Drama New Testament and selected Psalms chosen specifically for “warriors,” yet it’s only about the size of a pack of chewing gum.

Designed to military specifications for safe and discreet use in low-light conditions, it features a matte black finish and red-light-only operation — and runs on a single AAA battery!

Each service member who receives a Military BibleStick also has the option to request a free Audio New Testament or Kids Bible for family back home — although they may be separated from loved ones, they know they are listening through the Word together.

Military BibleSticks provide real hope for our heroes!

Short Term Mission Trips

Peninsular Christian Church does ministry work within our community and all over the world.  We focus on short term mission trips for youth and adults.  This trip was to Haiti from July 19 - 24th, 2015.  Many people within the church donated items to take to this much needed area.  Funds were raised within the church.  Other donors from the community helped with this endeavor too.  The funds were used to put in a fresh water well and help with books and support for children in Pastor Daniel's orphanage.

1st Saturday Street Feeding

Taking it to the streets.

1st Saturday is a ministry that feeds people on the street. It started years ago by a church member at PCC named Tony Ficca. Tony fed many people sandwiches and hot meals by himself for years. Through the years it has grown into a ministry committed to serve a hot meal on the 1st Saturday of each month along with supplying a distribution of clothing items and toiletries when they are available.  The people on the street are served with dignity and the love of Jesus Christ.

How can you help? Please pray for this ministry, and if you would like to get involved by serving or donating please contact David Wilcher at 813-743-7031.

Food Ministry

His Helping Hands Food Ministry began over 8 years ago. Through the generosity of Publix, Target and our church, we are able to provide a helping hand to around 100 people in South Tampa every Friday. Each person receives meat, produce or canned goods and bread to help feed themselves and their families.  But beyond the food  they are welcomed with coffee, pastries and a word of encouragement from the Lord through one of the volunteers.

Teresa Milano shares God's  word and offers prayer to those in need.  We also provide devotional materials, Bibles and Christian music. Ocassionally, we are able to provide extras in the form of toliet paper and tolietries.
This ministry is blessed to have over 30 dedicated volunteers.

If you are interested in volunteering please contact Sue Gambrell at suegambrell@yahoo.com.

The biggest way to help this ministry is by giving canned and boxed foods on a regular basis. It is a challenge to keep our pantry stocked, but if everyone gave a little bit on a weekly basis, it would be such a help.  Of course, any and all financial donations are greatly appreciated. We spend donations carefully to get the most food for your money. Anyone can initiate a canned food drive through their workplace or  neighborhood. We have received so much food from local schools, cub/boy/girl scouts, daycare centers, etc.

Specific needs are: canned spaghetti 'Os, canned ravioli, canned fruits and vegetables, cereals, toiletries, etc.

Distribution of food is every Friday morning with the doors opening at 8am with coffee and pastries for all attending, a devotion given by Teresa Milano or one of the volunteers.  The food distribution is at 9am.  You are required to have a photo id and proof of residency.

God has been so faithful in this ministry. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered, donated or prayed for His Helping Hands food ministry.  We will be celebrating 9 years of blessings in August of 2016. We are promoting a canned food drive: "9 for 9" that is donate 9 canned goods for each year of service to the Lord in this ministry.

"The generous will be blessed, for they share food with the poor."- Proverbs 22:9

God Whispers Clothing Cottage

I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
— Matthew 25:36

God Whispers Clothing Cottage serves the needy of South Tampa along with foster families.

Clothing is also distributed each month when our 1st Saturday street feeding takes place.

When foster children are placed in families they typically come with just the clothes they are wearing. The Cottage helps with those immediate needs.

Funded by the generous donations of the community, the Cottage keeps fairly well stocked. There is always a need for donations of new men's and women's socks and underwear. They can be dropped off in the white hamper in the narthex of the church.

Anyone wanting information on ways to volunteer are encouraged to contact Kathy Beyer at kathybeyer@me.com.

Operation Christmas Child

Our church has participated in Operation Christmas Child for several years now.  We fill shoeboxes full of toys and goodies to share with kids in countries that would otherwise not have Christmas presents.  It is just another way of saying Jesus loves everyone.

Come and be a part of this worthwhile project every Christmas Season

Shoeboxes will be distributed on Sunday October 30, 2016 and need to be returned to PCC by Sunday November 13, 2016

Christmas Caroling

During this special time of year (Christmas), Peninsular Christian Church goes out to our community facilities that house elderly individuals and sing Christmas Carols, bringing  joy and cheer to those we see on this special night prior to the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  We also seek out our shut ins and elderly families in our church to visit and serenade.  Christmas cookies and goodies are shared afterwards by all our carolers to enjoy.  You must attend even if you cannot sing.  FA LA LA LA LA!
